Waterproofing

Waterproofing and dampproofing refer to the various products having the main purpose of preventing moisture from entering and damaging the building structure. Areas prone to moisture seepage are the basements, decks and patios, bathrooms and other frequently wet areas.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is necessary to keep liquid water away from the foundation. Moisture in liquid form creates hydrostatic pressure that allows the moisture to flow through even a relatively small hole.  Waterproofing uses materials having rubber as its main component. When applied to areas like the basement, the rubber material will stretch over time, filling in the cracks and gaps that will appear in the foundation providing a watertight barrier to moisture. Since waterproofing is rubber-based, it is environment-friendly but more expensive.
